Police make drug and theft arrests
After a call from a concerned citizen, a young man was arrested for possessing drugs and a loaded gun in Patterson.
Kilo White, 22, was charged with illegal carrying of a weapon and third offense possession of marijuana at 11:48 p.m. Thursday. Another young man was charged with first offense possession of marijuana in the incident.
The caller alerted authorities to illegal activity and the presence of the gun at the pool hall on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson. When officers arrived, they escorted the group outside, searched them and recovered the weapon along with two small bags of marijuana, Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
White remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.
In Berwick, Brian Alexis, 45, of St. Amant was charged at 2:50 p.m. Thursday with a warrant for unauthorized removal of a vehicle.
He brought a vehicle to A.J. Dohmann in Berwick to be worked on and then took it without paying, Police Chief James Richard said.
Alexis was located at the Madison Correctional Facility where he remained this morning. Bond on this charge was set at $1,000.
Elsewhere, Cory J. Rogers, 35, of Bush Street in Morgan City was arrested Thursday at 2:03 p.m. on a warrant for Livingston Parish for violation of a protective order.
Sheriff Mark Hebert said Rogers was located at his residence and booked into the parish jail where he remained this morning in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
Jeremy Grubbs, 33, of Opelousas was arrested at 3:11 a.m. today for possession of diazepam and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy was called to the Plantation Inn in Bayou Vista in reference to a vehicle parked in the parking lot with a subject sleeping. When the deputy arrived, he observed a person asleep in the passenger seat of a vehicle with drug paraphernalia in his hand, Hebert said.
When the deputy made contact with Grubbs, he attempted to conceal items he was holding. The deputy also located a small tin can containing 3 diazepam pills, the sheriff added.
Grubbs was booked into the parish jail where he remained this morning with no bond set.
