Police arrest man at Morgan City holiday party

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:

—Bethany Mecom, 20, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Friday on warrants for probation violation and failure to appear to pay probation fees. Mecom was arrested in Patterson by Patterson Police and taken to the Morgan City Police Department. Mecom was released on $500 bail.

—Cotina La’na Walton, 30, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Friday on warrants for simple battery, criminal trespassing, and a hold for probation and parole. Walton was arrested in Patterson and taken to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. No bail information was available.

—Tenisha, Thompson, 27, of Kem Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Friday on warrants for simple battery and criminal trespassing. Thompson was arrested in Patterson and taken to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. No bail information was available.

—Dontrell Damon Carter, 29, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday for domestic abuse battery. Officers were called to First Street where officers arrested Carter after obtaining statements from both he and the victim. No bail information was available.

—John Morgan Hardy, 48, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was arrested at 2:43 p.m. Saturday for appearing in public intoxicated and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

Officers responded to the area of Auto Zone in reference to an intoxicated person causing a disturbance and getting into a vehicle. Hardy had left the business before officers arrived. Officers were provided with a description of Hardy and the vehicle and attempted to locate them. Officers later received a second complaint involving the vehicle described. This complaint was at the corner of La. 182 and 11th Street. Officers responded and found Hardy exiting the vehicle. Officers placed him under arrest, and located three open containers of alcohol within the vehicle. His bail is set at $519.

—Cody Allen Cradeur, 24, of Stephensville Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Saturday for simple battery and disturbing the peace intoxicated. An officer responded to a call at the Holiday Inn in reference to someone causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed two male subjects fighting. Holiday Inn security advised that they escorted Cradeur out of a Christmas party and asked him to leave. As he left he approached a group of patrons and began to strike one of them with his fist. Officers arrested Cradeur on the above charges. He was released on a $984 bail.

—Sherry H. Cooper, 27, of Pecan Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:47 p.m. Sunday for prohibited acts/drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to a disturbance on Pecan Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that an argument started over Cooper accusing someone of stealing $20 from her. Officers were informed that Cooper had a marijuana pipe hidden at the residence. Officers obtained consent to search the suspected hiding place. Officers located a large glass pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana. Cooper was placed under arrest after being advised of her rights and admitting that the pipe belonged to her. Bail is set at $942.

—Christa N. Naquin, 26, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Sunday for simple criminal damage to property. Officers responded to Second Street in reference to criminal damage to property. The complainant told officers that upon arriving at the residence on Second Street to pick up her vehicle from Naquin, she found the rear glass busted out. Officers questioned Naquin about the damage to the vehicle. Naquin admitted to officers that she broke the window while attempting to get away from the complainant. Naquin was placed under arrest and is still being held on a $492 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:

—Angela Doucet, 48, of Ehrlich Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Saturday for DWI second offense, driving under suspension and careless operation of a vehicle with a crash. She was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Rediance D. Perez, 22, of Three B’s Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for theft. A deputy responding to a complaint on Three B’s Lane came into contact with Perez who was wanted on the warrant. She was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Mckinley Defils, 54, of La. 318 in Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:48 p.m. Sunday for illegal possession of stolen things.

—John Morgan Hardy, 48, of Degravelle Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:50 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Ganaway’s. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Hardy, who during the course of the investigation, began arguing and using profanity outside the business. Hardy was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $250 bail.

—Martin Contreras, 32, of Pleasant Run Road in Irving, Texas, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Monday for license plate light required, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents.

—Ricardo Montes, 30, of Joanna Drive in Farmers Branch, Texas, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Monday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Fernando Acosta-Flores, 41, of Poula Street in Irving, Texas, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Monday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy patrolling U.S. 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle without a license plate light and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Contreras, the deputy observed the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. During the investigation, the deputy located marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the passengers, Montes and Flores, and a burnt marijuana cigarette in the vehicle. Contreras was also found to be in possession of a fraudulent document. All three occupants were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set for Contreras. Flores and Montes’ bail is set at $3,500.

—Derwin Adair Vining, 34, of Polaris Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana third offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives conducting an investigation at the residence located marijuana and rolling papers inside the residence. Vining was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $11,500.

—Tracy Anita Thomas, 45, of Florida Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10 a.m. Monday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Thomas at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.

—Lucille R. Leonard, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:39 p.m. Monday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival the deputy learned from store security that Leonard was observed placing a bottle of perfume and other items in her purse. The total value of the stolen items is $29.91. Leonard was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.

Patterson police reported the following arrests:

—Junior Weston, 46, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested by Patterson Police at 5:45 a.m. Thursday for first degree murder. He was taken to parish jail after being transferred from the Patterson Police Department at 3:10 p.m.

—Jerriod Garrison, 20, of MLK Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 2:14 a.m. Friday for no driver’s license. He was released on fines paid.
