July 14, 1949 — Aug. 19, 2011
Perry Cheramie was born in Morgan City and lived in Des Allemands for the past 15 years. Born to the late Roosevelt and Eunice Cheramie on July 14, 1949, Perry entered into Heaven’s gates on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the early age of 62.
He loved tugboats and worked on the waters of Louisiana as a boat captain and a tanker man all his life until his retirement. Perry enjoyed the outdoors as he loved fishing and hunting, and also was a super Saints fan. He was very much a family man.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Norred Cheramie; daughters, Sarah, Heather, Krista Lynn, Carrie Ann and Michelle; sons, Dale and Kristopher; his brother, Tommie Cheramie; and sisters, Betty Cheramie Hyde, Beverly Cheramie Burleigh, Attecia Cheramie Alston and Darlene Cheramie Harvey; and many grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Rocky and Joe Cheramie.
Special thanks to Dr. Carla Thurston of the Medicine Clinic in Morgan City. Her care and compassion during Perry’s illness always will be remembered, and she will always have special place in our family’s hearts.
