Patterson's Deondre Skinner is named District 9-3A's top player
PATTERSON — Patterson’s Deondre Skinner was named District 9-3A most valuable player after the Lumberjacks finished district play with a 12-0 mark.
Skinner averaged a double-double during district play with 12 points and 10 rebounds per contest.
He was one of four ’Jacks recognized on the team as freshman Nehemiah Augustus was a second-team selection, while senior Denzel Johnson and sophomore Daylon Charlot both were named honorable mention. Augustus averaged 10 points per contest, while Johnson and Charlot averaged nine points apiece.
Patterson’s undefeated mark in district was their second in as many years. The closest any district opponent got to the ’Jacks was Franklin, who recorded a 64-59 win against Franklin.
Every other win was in double figures. Eight of the ’Jacks 12 wins were by at least 20 points.
In addition to Patterson, Berwick also placed three on the honorable mention squad in Chaz Russo, Nicholas Osburn and Devin Tabor.
Other first-team selections included Devante Davis of Kaplan, Tyler Simon of Abbeville, Joe Del Duhon of North Vermilion and Jarion Brown of Franklin.
In addition to Augustus, other second-team selections include Isaiah Antoine of Abbeville, Jamal Johnson of Franklin and Mike Bessard and Nick Cooper of North Vermilion.
Other honorable mention selections included North Vermilion’s Jawaun Windmom, Franklin’s Tarence Clark and Deandre Charles, Kaplan’s Jalen Bates, and Erath’s Lance Moss, Jordan Lange, Cole Delcambre, Austin Domingues and Gannon Broussard.
