The Patterson Lumberjacks used suffocating defense to handcuff Evangel en route to a 68-43 win in the Bi-District round of the Class 3A playoffs Friday at Patterson.

Boys prep hoops pairings announced

Patterson's boys’ basketball team was among the teams across the state that qualified for the prep basketball postseason. The Patterson Lumberjacks finished District 9-3A action Friday with a 64-55 win against Franklin.

Patterson defeats Berwick in District 9-3A action

Morgan City, Berwick and Patterson High schools’ basketball teams all were in action Tuesday night. Morgan City fell to Assumption in its season finale, while Patterson defeated Berwick in Berwick. Berwick will conclude its season Friday at E.D. White, while Patterson will be looking to sew up a share of the District 9-3A title. The Patterson Lumberjacks defeated the Berwick Panthers, 57-42, in District 9-3A action Tuesday.
Patterson took an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and led 35-23 at the half.
