Patterson High School student arrested on drug charge at school
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Leslie W. Knighten, 57, of Iberia Street in Franklin, was arrested at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday on warrants for issuing worthless checks. Knighten was located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrants. Knighton was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17, 2013.
A juvenile male, 14, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Wednesday at Patterson High School for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to a complaint of suspected drugs on school grounds. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from school administrators that a student had been found to be in possession of a substance suspected to be marijuana. Following an investigation by the deputy, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Fred Lamar Williams, 25, of Eighth Street in Franklin, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday for simple obstruction of a highway and no driver’s license. A deputy patrolling the Centerville area observed a vehicle parked partially in the roadway on La. 317 near Elm Street, forcing traffic to drive into the opposite lane of travel. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Williams. While speaking with Williams the deputy learned that he did not have a driver’s license. Williams was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.
—Anthony Jackson, 20, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday for unauthorized use of an access card.
—Harley Burns, 19, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday for unauthorized use of an access card.
A deputy responded to a complaint of unauthorized use of an access card. Upon speaking with the female victim, the deputy learned that her missing debit card had recently been used at Murphy’s gas station in Bayou Vista. The victim was able to provide the time and amount of the unauthorized charge and the deputy identified Jackson and Burns as suspects. After further investigation, Jackson and Burns were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Allen J. Sauce, 29, of Marshall Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for simple burglary.
Sauce was developed as a suspect in a residential burglary which occurred at a Marshall Street residence on Sunday. Upon being questioned, Sauce admitted to entering a home and taking assorted bottles of alcohol along with other items, the report stated. The subject was taken to city jail and held with no bail set.
—April Lynn Aucoin, 32, of Cremo Street in Patterson was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Wednesday on three bench warrants. She remains in jail on $808 bail.
—Gary Lee Davis, 27, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday for simple escape.
While being escorted from Morgan City Court to Morgan City Jail, Davis ran from officers and was captured next door to the police department at Solar Apartments, the report stated. No bail information was available.
—David A. Thompson, 46, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:52 p.m. Tuesday for probation violation.
Thompson was arrested in Morgan City Court by the city marshal and taken to jail and held. He was released on $1,000 bail.
—Leroy Lloyd Trim, 40, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday for two bench warrants. Officers were dispatched to Garber Street for a complaint. While investigating the complaint, officers checked local warrants on Trim. The local check returned active warrants for his arrest. He was arrested, taken to the jail and held. No bail information was available.
—Patrick Joseph Branum, 27, of Kennith City, Fla., was arrested at 3:08 a.m. Wednesday for simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Officers responded to the Days Inn in reference to a man being robbed. Officers spoke with Branum, who told them he was at the Rathskeller Lounge having drinks. He says that he woke up in a warehouse, and does not know how he got there. He told officers that he broke a window to get out of the warehouse. Officers combed the area of the Rathskeller and found a broken window at Osborne Hydraulic. Officers determined that entry into the building had been made through a rear garage type door, which partially returned to it tracks after being forced inward, locking suspect inside. Officers located property belonging to Branum at Osborne Hydraulic, which he said was property taken from him in the robbery, the report stated.
He remains in jail on $31,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Shawn Pollard, 26, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested Wednesday at 1:36 p.m. for possession of marijuana third offense. He was transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
Patterson police had the following arrests:
—Varahalv Karanam, 31, of Egan Street in Monroe, was arrested at 3:21 p.m. Dec. 1 for speeding 82 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone and careless operation. Karanam paid a fine and was released.
—Qwane Ann Woods, 22, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. on Dec. 1 for no driver’s license. Woods paid a fine and was released.
—Brittany Walton, 22, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Dec. 1 for no driver’s license and an expired license plate. Walton paid a fine and was released.
—Joseph Andrews, 33, of Pluto Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:58 a.m. Dec. 2 for speeding and a suspended driver’s license. He paid a fine and was released.
—Jennifer Scroggs, 33, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 12:34 a.m. Dec. 6 for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
—Bernetta Pennison, 43, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 12:34 a.m. Dec. 6 for a failure to appear warrant. Pennison was transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
—Jessie Fontenot, 35, of Marie Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Sunday for possession of prescription drugs without a prescription. Fontenot was released on bail.
—Chelsea Jennings, 22, of Washington Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:50 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace fighting. Jennings was released on recognizance.
—Desmond Vilo, 32, of John Henry Drive in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Monday and is serving time in parish jail.
