Patterson council will meet Tuesday

PATTERSON, La. -- The Patterson City Council meets Tuesday to vote on property tax rates and submits a budget for the next fiscal year which begins July 1. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall at 1314 Main St. with a public hearing on property taxes.

Mayor Rodney Grogan will talk to the council about ongoing discussions between the city and the St. Mary Parish School Board regarding property around the junior high school.

Grogan is expected to announce an $8,000 grant to build sidewalks from First Street to Third Street.

Bids for surplus city items will be opened as well as bids on demolition of a house. Also scheduled is an introduction of an ordinance/resolution creating a Cultural District as recommended by the Main Street Committee.

Other items on the agenda include:

—Annual selection of the official journal as required by Secretary of State.

—Hiring of an accounting firm as required by United States Department of Agriculture to provide quarterly financials.

—Annual engagement letter for Kolder, Champagne, Slaven & Co. LLC.
