Patterson, Berwick represented on all-district teams

Staff Report

Patterson and Berwick both were represented on the Division 3, District 5 All-District volleyball team.

Patterson placed six on the squads, while Berwick was represented with four.

The squads also included representatives from E.D. White, Vandebilt Catholic and Franklin.

Patterson was the lone local squad to have a first-team representative, senior middle hitter Caitlyn Fontenot, while Berwick placed two on the second team, senior middle blocker/setter Elizabeth Hover and senior outside hitter/defensive specialist Abigail Ohlin.

Patterson had five honorable mention selections, junior outside hitter Kailyn Johnson, junior libero Carli McIntyre, senior middle hitter Courtnie Boudreaux, senior setter Carissa Fontenot and senior outside hitter Rebecca Taylor.

“I’m extremely proud of my girls this year,” Patterson coach Chasity Fontenot said. “We had a tough district — three of our five teams making playoffs — with us right on the borderline of getting in. For us having a girl make first team, along with five others making honorable mention, speaks a lot for our program. We’re definitely making progress and will continue to do this. It’s going to be hard to see my four seniors go, but we will have youngsters step up next year to get the job done.”

Berwick had two honorable mention selections, junior defensive specialist Diana Grace Guarisco and senior defensive specialist Celeste Bowers.

Berwick coach Charlotte Menard declined to comment on her all-district selections, citing her resignation from Berwick High School, effective Dec. 21. Menard said she is resigning to move closer to family.
