Narcotics detectives execute search warrants, four arrested for illegal drug activity

BAYOU VISTA, La. -- Four people were arrested this morning on numerous drug charges by St. Mary Parish narcotics detectives after detectives searched three different residences in Bayou Vista, confiscating more than $18,000 worth of marijuana, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

Around 6:30 a.m., St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives, with the assistance of the Berwick, Franklin, and Morgan City police executed search warrants simultaneously at three residences in the Bayou Vista area.

Detectives secured the warrants as a result of an ongoing investigation that began about six months ago. During the investigation, detectives learned that Shawn Francois, Lloyd Humphrey, Renata Harris, and Donte’ Harris were responsible for the sale of illegal narcotics, Hebert said.

During the search of their residences on Jupiter Street, Bergeron Lane, and South Road, narcotics detectives located marijuana with a street value of about $18,000, cocaine with a street value of about $4,500 dollars, a stolen firearm and items of drug paraphernalia, Hebert said. Detectives seized $8,750 in U.S. currency as well as two vehicles pending forfeiture. All were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Hebert identified the arrested as follows:

—Shawn Francois, 35, of the 400 block of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of schedule II (liquid codeine), possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (Drug Free Zone), possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, and transactions involving drug proceeds.

—Lloyd Humphrey, 34, of the 100 block of Bergeron Lane in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a transaction involving drug proceeds

—Renata Harris, 33, of the 1200 block of South Road in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (Drug Free Zone), transactions involving drug proceeds, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Donte’ J. Harris, 17, of the 1200 block of South Road in Bayou Vista, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (Drug Free Zone), possession of a legend drug (Fioricet) without a prescription, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
