Morris Lee “Huggy” Charles, 63, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Houma, died Monday, Aug. 1, at 5:25 p.m., at Terrebonne Medical Center in Houma.

Visitation will be Friday, August 5, at Siracusaville Recreation Center, from 11 a.m. until funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Huggy enjoyed football (Pittsburgh Steelers), fishing and spending quality time with family.

Huggy leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gracie Ann Charles of Lafayette; five daughters, Mrs. Nathaniel (Jacqueline) Jupiter of Morgan City, Mrs. Jerome (Bridget) Young and Mrs. Keith (Karen) Vanburen, both of Houma, Mrs. Mark (Sabrina) Dabney of Patterson and Aaliyah Charles of Lafayette; three sons, Warren Boyd of Houma, Morris Lee (Veronica) Charles Jr. of Morgan City and Ronald Charles of Lafayette; three brothers, Harold Lynn (Sybil) Charles, Anthony (Deidra) Charles and Sammie (Carlett) Hollaway, all of Morgan City; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Bessie) Jones Sr. and Mrs. Wedell (Carolyn) Charles, both of Morgan City; 11 brothers-in-law; two sisters-in law; an uncle; two godchildren; 31 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one special granddaughter, ZaNyrie Lyons; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, three nephews, a brother, a sister-in-law and a very good friend.
