Morgan City stolen bike complaint turns into drug arrest
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Brian E. Dixon, 24, of Everett Street in Morgan City was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday for felony illegal possession of stolen things, resisting an officer, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and a hold for probation and parole.
An officer was handling a complaint of a stolen bicycle, which Dixon was riding on Everett Street. When the officer attempted to detain Dixon, he tried to flee on foot. Dixon was apprehended and a struggle ensued between the officer and the suspect. Additional units arrived, and Dixon was taken into custody. Dixon was found to possess a container with approximately 12 rocks of suspected crack cocaine, along with a separate bag which contained several individually wrapped bags of marijuana, the report stated. Dixon was booked into city jail. The subject has a hold placed on him by his parole officer.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Santos M. Morales Guerrero, 27, of Cypress Street in Amelia, was arrested at 7:07 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of no driver’s license and careless operation. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Guerrero was wanted on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $328.50 bail.
—Carl Anthony Williams, 28, of Beau Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:11 a.m. Wednesday on warrants for failure to register as a sex offender and failure to notify law enforcement of a change of address. Williams was located on the warrants by the sheriff’s office officer who oversees registration for sex offenders in St. Mary Parish. In the state of Louisiana, sex offenders have three days to register their current address after moving to a new residence. Williams also failed to register as a sex offender. The registration must be completed yearly. Williams was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Michael Shane Drummond, 33, of Short Street Alley in Morgan City, was arrested at 1 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for driving while intoxicated, domestic abuse battery, and violation of a protective order and on a warrant from Ascension Parish for domestic abuse battery. A deputy located Drummond at his residence on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Ronald Joseph Armond, 40, of Andras Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 6:19 p.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated and careless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a two-vehicle crash on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The deputy made contact with one of the drivers identified as Armond. Armond appeared to be impaired, unable to stand on his own and slurred his speech, the report stated. During the investigation, the deputy conducted a field sobriety test and Armond performed poorly. He later registered .00 grams-percent blood alcohol content on the breath test. Armond gave consent to search his person. During the search, the deputy located more than 60 Suboxone patches, the report stated. A blood test is pending. Armond was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
