Morgan City police arrest man for theft of wallet

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Marcus Scott Hatch, 38, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant from the 16th Judicial District Court for a probation violation and on a warrant from the 6th Ward Court for failure to appear for criminal damage to property.

Hatch was detained in Berwick by officers and officers learned that he was wanted by the Morgan City Police Department as well as on a warrant for the 16th Judicial Court. Hatch was taken to city jail where he remains.

—Ismael Ramirez, 28, of Florence Court in Stephensville, was arrested at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday for theft less than $500.

The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a theft of a wallet from a local supermarket. During the investigation, Ramirez was developed as a suspect in the theft with the use of surveillance video, according to Crouch. Ramirez was located and identified as the person who had reportedly stolen a wallet. Ramirez was taken to city jail where he was booked and released after posting cash bail.

St. Mary Parish Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:

—Michael Gonzales, 23, of Clements Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft on Clements Lane. The female victim reported her mobile phone as stolen. Following interviews, the deputy determined that the victim’s ex-boyfriend, identified as Gonzales, took the mobile phone. The deputy recovered the phone during the investigation. Gonzales was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Leah Anslum, 50, of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2 a.m. Thursday for simple battery. Anslum was released on a $366 bail.

—James Joseph Sr., 62, of Paradise Lane in Patterson was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday for attempted burglary and criminal trespass. Joseph is being held without bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
