Morgan City police arrest 2 on drug, weapon charges

The Morgan City Police Department made two arrests in a major drug and gun sting, according to Chief Marc Folse:

—Anthony Jackson, 38, of Hwy. 405, Donaldsonville, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of schedule II controlled-dangerous substance (suspected PCP). He was arrested, booked and jailed with bail set at $37,000.

—Leroy Manor, 28, of Evangeline Street, Donaldsonville, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of schedule II controlled-dangerous substance (suspected PCD) and illegal carrying of a weapon. He was arrested, booked and incarcerated with no bond yet set.

According to Folse, officers dispatched to Solar Apartments for a disturbance were told one of the persons may have had a gun. Upon arrival, they located the subjects in a vehicle and they were ordered out, but Jackson refused, he said. Jackson was subsequently taken out of the vehicle, and officers noticed a black semi-automatic .45-caliber handgun on the driver’s seat where he had been seated, he said. The owner of the vehicle gave consent to officers to search the vehicle.

A small amount of marijuana was found in the console and a brown bottle of liquid suspected to be PCP was found between the driver’s seat and center console, Folse said.
