Morgan City man arrested for vehicle theft
MORGAN CITY, La. — A Morgan City was arrested Tuesday by Morgan City police after police learned that he was in possession of a stolen vehicle from the Lake Charles area, according to a news release from Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch.
Titus Cornelius Trimm, 28, of Anita Drive in Lake Charles, was arrested at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday for illegal possession of stolen things.
Morgan City police received information that Trimm was in the possession of a stolen vehicle from the Lake Charles area and that he was in the area of the businesses on Youngs Road. Officers searched the area and located a Hyundai which had been reported stolen, Crouch stated.
The driver was also located and arrested without incident. Trimm was also found to have active warrants for the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office and has a hold for those. No bail has been set yet and Trimm is still being held, Crouch stated.
Trimm was also arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff at 12:11 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for aggravated second degree battery and resisting an officer. Trimm was also wanted on another warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving while intoxicated, according to a news release from Sheriff Mark Hebert.
The warrant for aggravated battery and resisting an officer stems from an investigation that began in mid-February when a deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a bar in Siracusaville. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Trimm struck a male victim with a bottle causing multiple injuries. Also, Trimm gave the deputy a false name as his identity, Hebert stated.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Chantell Blackburn Gant, 43, of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1 a.m. today for disturbing the peace. Gant is being held on a $284 city fine.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
