Morgan City man arrested for stealing phone at casino
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Kizmet Gant, 31, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for telephone harassment. A deputy located Gant at the sheriff’s office in Franklin on the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.
—Marianne Francis Alianell, 33, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday for theft. While patrolling the Bayou Vista area, a deputy responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Alianell was observed placing several items in her purse and walking out of the store without paying for the merchandise, the report stated. Alianell was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.
—Glenn Rankins, 50, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:19 p.m. Tuesday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a possible stolen mobile phone at the Amelia Belle Casino in Amelia. With the assistance of casino security and surveillance footage, the deputy identified Rankins as the suspect who took another patron’s unattended mobile phone, the report stated. Rankins was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Kenneth J. Crappell, 52, of La. 70 in Morgan City was arrested at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday for theft by shoplifting (value of $38.97). Crappell is charged with taking medication without paying. He was taken to jail and held with bond set at $492.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Priscilla Delafunte, 28, of California Street in Berwick, was arrested for driving under suspension at 11:47 p.m. Tuesday. Delafunte had called police saying her vehicle was under water on First Street in Berwick. When police arrived they also found that she was driving under suspension. She was released on bail.
