Morgan City man arrested for simple battery
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—William Howell, 42, of the 700 block of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Friday for simple battery and on a warrant from the Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear. A deputy responded to a report of a battery on Offshore Lane in Amelia. The deputy made contact with Howell and observed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, Hebert said. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Howell and another man were involved in a verbal argument when Howell struck the male victim in the face. Howell was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Timothy Matthews Jr., 47, of the 300 block of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:41 a.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of leased movables and issuing worthless checks. Matthews was brought in to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center by a bondsman. Matthews was taken to jail and later transferred to another jurisdiction, Hebert said.
—Destiny Theriot, 36, of the 100 block of Polaris Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:59 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge. A deputy located Theriot on the warrant at a business on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. She was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on $319.50 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Drew Ryan Baugher, 23, of the 100 block of Rizzo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:20 p.m. Sunday for speeding 53 mph in a 45 mph zone, no driver’s license, failure to carry registration, possession of schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. Baugher is being held with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Rachael Schuette, 19, of Theriot Alley in Berwick, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Sunday for driving under suspension, and two headlights required. Schuette was released on $1,250 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Thomas Hunt, 35, of Bridgeport, Ohio, was arrested at 3:10 a.m. Friday for appearing intoxicated in public and resisting an officer.
Officers were summoned to a local hotel lobby in reference to an unruly subject. Officers observed Hunt in an apparent intoxicated condition. He was advised several times to return to his room but refused, Crouch said. He was arrested after he continued to use loud and profane language, Crouch said. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he physically resisted officers’ attempts to process him, Crouch said. He was placed in a holding cell until which time he could be processed. He was booked and eventually released on a $784 bail.
—Jaime Saucedo Gutierrez, 26, of Houma, was arrested at 9:54 a.m. Friday for no driver’s license.
An officer patrolling U.S. 90 conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Jaime Gutierrez. The driver, Gutierrez was found to be operating a vehicle with no driver’s license. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department and released after posting $311 bail.
—Nicgehia M. Francois, 39, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Friday on warrants for simple battery and criminal damage to property.
Officers investigating a complaint of a disturbance in the area of Sixth Street came into contact with Francois, who was observed in the area. Francois, was found to be a wanted person by the Morgan City Police Department. She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department and released after posting $1,184 bail.
—Hope Michelle Chettiyar, 35, of Kentucky Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:46 p.m. Friday on warrant for contempt of court for failure to appear for substance abuse and for two headlamps required.
Officers patrolling the Roderick Street area observed a vehicle with improper head lighting. The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver, Chettiyar. Chettiyar was discovered to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the City Court. She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where remains on $1,136 bail.
—Jamie L. Riggins, 32, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. Friday on a warrant for telephone harassment.
Riggins, after learning of an outstanding warrant for her arrest, turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked on the outstanding warrant and released on bail, Crouch said.
—Bethany Nicole Mecom, 21, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:20 p.m. Friday on a warrant for a probation violation.
Officers conducting a traffic stop in the area of La.182 and Roderick Street in Morgan City came into contact with Mecom. Mecom was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the City Court of Morgan City.
She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where and held with bail set at $800.
