Morgan City man arrested for simple, aggravated battery

A Morgan City man was arrested Wednesday after he turned himself in at the parish jail in Centerville on a warrant for simple battery and aggravated battery, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Christopher Crochet, 23, of Belleview Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple battery and aggravated battery. Crochet turned himself in at the parish jail in Centerville. The warrant stems from a March 20 investigation into a domestic disturbance at a residence on Belleview Street. Deputies learned that Crochet struck a woman and was involved in a physical altercation with another man. Following the fight, Crochet left the residence. Both victims were transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for treatment. Crochet’s bail is set at $1,500.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Anthony Lemar, 46, of West Main Street in Port Allen, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. today for two counts of disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of a subject who was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave the Bayou Vista Truck Stop. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a subject, identified as Lemar. During the investigation, Lemar appeared to be intoxicated, the report stated. He was taken to Franklin Foundation Hospital. Once he arrived, Lemar refused to cooperate with doctors and nurses, the report stated. Lemar was later taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Samuel Paul Lyles, 25, of Beach City, Texas, was arrested Tuesday for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving on U.S. 90 in in the Amelia area and conducted a traffic stop. Lyles is accused of driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone. Lyles was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5.

—Anthony Kidder, 26, of Clement Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested Tuesday for no turn signal, possession of marijuana second offense, possession of schedule III (Suboxen) and possession of drug paraphernalia. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives patrolling the area of Moon Road and La. 182 observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives said they observed marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle and, after receiving consent to search the vehicle, they located marijuana, a bong, and Suboxen inside the vehicle, the report stated. Kidder remains in jail with no bail set.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives conducted an investigation on Saturn Road in Bayou Vista Tuesday evening. During the investigation, detectives received consent to search the residence and located marijuana, smoking pipes, Lortab pills, and Dedric pills, the report stated. There was also a small child inside the residence. The child was released to the custody of a relative for care. All five subjects were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set. The following were arrested in the case:

—Heather Kleimann, 47, of Park Street in Patterson, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule III (Dedric), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

—Dakota Kleimann, 20, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule III (Lortab), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

—Keith Gaytan, 26, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

—David Lodrigue, 61, of Opperman Lane in Patterson, was charged with possession of marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

—William Burgess, 54, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was charged with possession of marijuana second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:

—James Anslem, 64, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Wednesday for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Department of Correction Probation and Parole agents were checking on a person whom they had on probation. Agents went to the residence where the person lived and determined that they were not home. They were invited in by Anslem, the owner of the residence, and they noticed several items of drug paraphernalia around the residence, the report stated. Anslem was taken to jail and later released after posting $742 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
