Morgan City man arrested for child porn on cell phone

MORGAN CITY, La. -- A man already jailed at the Morgan City Police Department was arrested on child pornography charges after officers located suspected child pornography on his cellular telephone, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco.

Terry Polk, 39, of Willow Street, Morgan City, who was arrested Monday night on drug charges, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at police headquarters for two counts of possession of child pornography. During a search of Polk’s residence Monday night, officers found suspected marijuana and a notebook with lists of sites for child pornography, the report stated. Upon reviewing his telephone, investigators located more than 1,200 images that he had downloaded from the Internet, the report stated. He remains jailed with a $100,000 bail.

Also arrested by the Morgan City police was a Texas man wanted in Texas

—Calvin Kimbrough, 28, of Coe Road, Center, Texas, was arrested at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery, failure to appear for disturbing the peace and failure to appear on a charge of child desertion. In May 2009, he was arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on warrants for failing to appear in court. Kimbrough waived extradition and was taken to the Morgan City Police Department’s jail where he remains with bail not yet set.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office made the following arrest in the eastern part of the parish overnight, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:

—Clinton Jesse Roberts, 30, of Laban Avenue, Houma, was arrested at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on a warrant for theft. Roberts turned himself in on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of a wallet being stolen at the Amelia Belle Casino. Roberts was released on a summons to appear in court in January.

The Berwick Police Department made one arrest, according to Chief James Richard:

—Thomas Remedies, 19, of Second Street, Morgan City, was arrested at his residence at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday with assistance of the MCPD on a warrant for theft over $500. Remedies had warrants for the Patterson police and the Houma police departments. The alleged theft occurred Sept. 25 at the Sleep Inn and Suites. Remedies was taken to the Patterson Police Department where he remains jailed.
