Morgan City man arrested for carnal knowledge of a juvenile

A Morgan City man was arrested Sunday for carnal knowledge of a juvenile after complaints filed by the parents of two females, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco of the Morgan City Police Department.

—Aaron Briggs, 19, of Seventh Street, Morgan City, was arrested at his residence at 5:58 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for four counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. The alleged incidents with two females, ages 15 and 16, occurred as recently as two weeks ago. He remains jailed with a $50,000 bail.

Also arrested by Morgan City police are:

—David Dardar, 51, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Saturday for cruelty to animals. Officers were called to the 700 block of Belanger Street about a dog that was being mistreated and was severely malnourished. Witnesses reported the dog was housed in a small kennel which was in direct sunlight. Upon observing the dog, they noticed it appeared as though the dog was not being fed and that it was dehydrated. Dardar was arrested and later released after posting a $692 bail. The dog was taken to the animal shelter in Franklin for treatment of severe malnutrition as well as dehydration and was responding well.

—Carl Parr, 47, of Sapling Street, Lake Charles, was arrested at 2:55 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. He remains jailed with a $692 bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests over the weekend.

—Christopher V. Smith, 37, of James Street, Siracusaville, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (Drug Free Zone), obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of Schedule III drug (Vicodin), possession of legend drug (Naproxen), and resisting an officer by flight. Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at Smith’s residence. He fled from detectives on foot, but was soon apprehended. During the search detectives located marijuana with a street value of about $3,250, Vicodin, Naproxen, items of drug paraphernalia, and $678 in cash. He remains jailed at the parish jail with bail not set.

—Davida Bias, 28, of Grace Street, Morgan City, was arrested at her residence at 4:15 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks and a warrant for Iberia Parish for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance at the home learned of the warrants for her arrest. Bias remains jailed with a $1,000 bail.

—Luis Alberto Juárez Rodriguez, 21, of William Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 90 in Morgan City for no driver’s license and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. A deputy investigating a two-vehicle crash on the E.J. Lionel Grizzaffi Bridge learned that Rodriguez was operating one of the vehicles without lawful presence in the United States. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Phillip Andre Wilson Jr., 23, of Larimer Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 4:09 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 90 near Ricohoc for possession of marijuana. He remains jailed with a $2,000 bail.

—Cameron Alexander Simmons, 18, of Lake Martin Road, Breaux Bridge, was arrested at 4:09 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 90 near Ricohoc for possession of marijuana. He remains jailed with a $2,000 bail.

—Mario Alberto Alviar, 39, of Duval Lane, Amelia, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. Saturday at the West End Trailer Park in Amelia for stop sign violation, no proof of insurance, and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Jaye Bliss, 23, of Hotard Trailer Park, Railroad Avenue, Berwick, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Saturday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on warrants for failure to appear for probation review hearings, to pay a fine, and to pay a probation fee. He was also wanted on a warrant for probation and parole violation and on a warrant from the Morgan City Police Department for probation violation. Bliss turned himself in on the warrants. He remains jailed with bail not set.

—Jeremy James Foney, 29, of Third Street, Lake Charles, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Sunday on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia for careless operation and driving while intoxicated. He was involved in a single-vehicle crash, and had driven through a fence. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Foney, the deputy smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath and person. Foney later registered a 0.190g on the Intoxilyzer 5000. He remains jailed with bail not set.

The Berwick Police Department made one arrest over the weekend, according to Chief James Richard:

—Russell D. Gant Butler, 34, St. Lucy Street, Patterson, was arrested 10:36 a.m. Saturday at the Sleep Inn Suites for simple battery. He remains jailed with a $250 bail and a probation hold.
