Morgan City man accused of attempted rape in Houma

MORGAN CITY, La. — A 19-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Monday by Morgan City police on a warrant from Houma police for attempted simple rape, according to Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch.

Omar Morales Hernandez, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:26 p.m. Monday for attempted simple rape.

Morgan City police detectives were assisting Houma police with an investigation into the alleged attempted rape which occurred in Houma, according to Crouch.

Hernandez was located at his residence and taken to the Morgan City Police Department for questioning. As a result of the investigation, Houma police obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez on the charge of attempted simple rape.

Hernandez was booked into the Morgan City Jail and is awaiting transfer to Houma.
