Miss Lake Palourde Pageant entries sought
Young women ages 14-22 from St. Mary, Assumption and Lower St. Martin parishes are being sought by the Morgan City Power Boat Association for its Miss Lake Palourde and Teen Miss Lake Palourde Pageant that will be held June 30 at Maison Jardin Senior Living Community in Morgan City.
Ages 14-16 are eligible for the teen division and ages 17-22 for the miss division.
MCPBA, established in 1962, is excited about this year’s races and pageant.
With this being the association’s 50-year celebration, officials say “it is appropriate to crown a queen for this golden anniversary.”
Contestants will participate in an interview, two social events and a mother-daughter tea, all to be held at Maison Jardin leading up to the pageant.
Judges will give marks on poise, stage presence, the ability to speak well and on knowledge of MCPBA history.
Once crowned, the reigning queens will represent the MCPBA event, which will be the weekend of July 6-8 along La. 70 at Lake Palourde in Morgan City.
The miss and teen queens will also be required to travel to festivals throughout Louisiana, as designated by the association, for one year as spokeswomen of MCPBA.
Queens will be reimbursed mileage for travel to designated festivals and a scholarship will be awarded to the Miss Queen at the conclusion of her year.
Deadline to submit applications is May 25.
Applications are available in Morgan City at Flower Fashion on Brashear Avenue and at Maison Jardin on Roderick Street, or online at www.maisonjardinslc.com under “news and events.”
