Miller to be honored by Community Foundation of Acadiana
LAFAYETTE, La. — Community Foundation of Acadiana’s second annual Leaders in Philanthropy Awards Luncheon will honor R.E. “Bob” Miller of Bayou Vista.
Miller is the founder and president of Major Equipment & Remediation in Amelia.
He was chosen for his long-term philanthropic commitment to the improvement of his community. For more than 30 years, Miller committed his time, talents and resources to community organizations and events hosted in St. Mary Parish, as well as in other communities.
Miller served on boards for various business and charitable organizations including the American Petroleum Institute Atchafalaya Chapter, St. Mary Industrial Group, the Lakewood Foundation, Teche Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and the Atchafalaya River Coalition.
Among many contributions, he has generously established a scholarship fund for the honors program at Nicholls State University.
The Leaders in Philanthropy Awards Luncheon will be held Nov. 1 at the Cajundome Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Leader in Philanthropy Award will be presented to the following outstanding philanthropists in each of the eight parish service-areas the Community Foundation of Acadiana serves. The event will feature keynote speaker Todd Graves, founder and CEO of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers®, who recently was named “Restaurateur of the Year” by the Louisiana Restaurant Association. Graves will speak to attendees about sustaining a successful entrepreneurial business while upholding a strong philanthropic mission. Raising Cane’s has been named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the top 5000 fastest growing privately-owned companies in the nation for five consecutive years. Furthermore, Graves’ entrepreneurial spirit has been recognized in Nation’s Restaurant News, Chain Leader, QSR, Entrepreneur, Rolling Stone and USA Today.
