MC 8s finish in third place at Biddy world tournament

THE MORGAN CITY 7- and 8-year-old Biddy Basketball team finished in third place at the Biddy Basketball International Tournament in Thibodaux with a record of 5-2. After falling in its first game to Slidell, 35-25, the squad reeled off five straight victories against the Thibodaux 7s (44-18), Donaldsonville (35-22), Dallas (42-24), Opelousas (41-17) and St. Charles in overtime (32-28). The squad concluded tournament play with a 36-32 loss to New Orleans in the semifinals. MC’s Jackson Butler and Davaidyione Bias were All-American recipients while Brett Morell placed third in the free-throw contest. Team members were, on front row, Dakota Gibson, Kye Morgel, Morell, Lonnie Kinchen and Kyler Paul. On second row are Nylan Francis, Donald Lewis, Butler, Bias, Kolin Crappell and Keyala Hawkins. On back row are head coach Mark Morell and assistant coaches Donald Lewis and Nigel Smith.
