Mardi Gras parades start with Adonis

Mardi Gras is in full swing with only one Carnival ball left on tap.

There will be six Mardi Gras parades following in succession starting Friday, Feb. 17.

The Krewe of Hephaestus will host the last coronation of the local season Saturday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. This is the krewe’s 52nd year.

Floor seating is by invitation only. Balcony viewing is free.

Saying a final farewell will be King and Queen Hephaestus LI Gary Duhon and Alaina Adams.

Krewe of Adonis

The men’s Krewe of Adonis hosts the area’s only nighttime procession Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.

The parade will begin at Brashear and Federal avenues in Morgan City, proceed down Federal Avenue to Onstead Street, Sixth Street, Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Clothilde Street and Victor II Boulevard where it will end at the Myrtle Street intersection.

Krewe of Dionysus

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Krewe of Dionysus will present at 2 p.m. in Berwick.

Members of the Krewe of Hannibal and the children’s Krewe of Nike will parade with Dionysus.

The procession will line up on Gilmore Drive and turn left on John Street, right on Robichaux Street, right on Mount Street, left on Gilmore, right on La. 182, right on Tournament Boulevard, right on Fairview then right on Pattie Drive where it will disband at Berwick Junior High School.

Krewe of Galatea

The women’s Krewe of Galatea will host its annual parade Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.

The procession will organize on Second Street in Morgan City under the U.S. 90 Grizzaffi Bridge and proceed north to Onstead Street, Sixth Street, Marguerite Street (where a toast will take place at the reviewing stand), Ninth Street, Clothilde Street and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.

Krewe of Amani

The Krewe of Amani will present a Lundi Gras parade Monday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. in Patterson.

The procession will line up at Patterson High School and proceed down La. 182 (Main Street) and end at the Place Norman Shopping Center.

Krewe of Hephaestus

Hephaestus will parade Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.

The parade will organize at the corner of Sixth and Sycamore streets in Morgan City, proceed down Sixth Street to Marguerite Street, Ninth Street, Clothilde Street, and Victor II Boulevard, ending at the auditorium.

Siracusa/Greenwood

The Siracusa/Greenwood Mardi Gras Parade will also be held Fat Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Siracusa Subdivision near Morgan City.

Participants will line up on Siracusa Road at 1 p.m. and proceed to James Street and Grace Street before ending at the Siracusaville Recreation Center.
