Man turns himself in on warrant for failure to appear
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:
—Clarence Sheets, 43, of North 12th Street in Thibodaux, was arrested at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial for simple criminal damage to property, on a warrant for failure to appear for disturbing the peace and on a warrant for failure to appear for resisting.
Sheets turned himself in to officers at the Morgan City Police Department. He was taken to jail and held. No bail information was available.
—Gregory Bell, 40, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday for possession of schedule I controlled dangerous substance-synthetic cannabinoids with the intent to distribute, resisting an officer, no driver’s license and speeding.
Officers patrolling the Wyandotte area observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on La. 182. Officers stopped the vehicle near the 8000 block of La. 182. The driver, identified as Bell, could not produce a valid driver’s license. During the traffic stop, Bell attempted to flee from the officer, Crouch stated. Officers gave foot chase and eventually subdued and detained the subject utilizing a Taser, he stated. Bell was found to be in possession of about 40 grams of suspected synthetic cannabinoids in individual packets, Crouch stated. The schedule I controlled dangerous substance was secured for evidence. Bell was taken to the police department and held.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Oubre Jr., 18, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile. Narcotics detectives were patrolling the Bayou Vista area when they observed a vehicle fail to signal when turning onto Middle Road. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, who was identified as Oubre. During the traffic stop, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a marijuana cigarette, glass pipes and a grinder, Hebert stated. In the vehicle with Oubre was a 16-year-old juvenile female. Oubre was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $8,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Robert Jones, 21, of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Thursday for driving under suspension and resisting an officer with a vehicle. Jones was released on bail.
—Shal-Jaup Williams, 23, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:46 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace-language. Williams was released on a city fine.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff Ronnie Theriot reported the following arrest:
—Dwayne Francis, 25, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested on a hold the St. Martin Parish Sheriff.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
