Man borrowed keys, stole vehicle, sheriff says
BAYOU VISTA, La. -- A 25-year-old Bayou L’Ourse man was arrested Monday after an investigation into a vehicle theft June 12 where the man asked to borrow the keys to a vehicle to get something out it and then took off in the vehicle, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Claiborne Joseph Fabre Jr. of Legnon Court in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft of a motor vehicle. Fabre was located at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and arrested on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a vehicle that was stolen from a parking lot in Bayou Vista.
The sheriff’s office received the complaint of the vehicle theft June 12. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Fabre asked to borrow the keys to the vehicle in order to retrieve something from the vehicle, Hebert stated. Fabre then drove the vehicle from the parking lot, he said. Fabre was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
