Man arrested for failing to register as a sex offender

PATTERSON, La. -- Patterson man was arrested at his residence Monday for failing to register as a sex offender, according to a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Corey Edward Graves, 33, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 3:26 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. A deputy located Graves at his residence on the warrant. Graves was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2002 in St. Mary Parish. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Hebert also reported the following arrests:

—Elijah G. Percle, 17, of the 2100 block of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 8:43 a.m. Monday for violation of the parish leash law. A deputy responding to an animal complaint identified Percle as the owner of two dogs that had been seen roaming the area. Percle was released on a summons to appear in court on Oct. 9.

—Mark Evans, 49, of the 100 block of 3B’s Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Monday for distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Donald Brooks Jr., 51, of the 5200 block of Meadville Road in Liberty, Miss., was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana.

During a narcotics investigation, detectives observed two people meet and conduct a hand to hand drug transaction in the parking lot of the Plantation Inn. Detectives made contact with the men, identified as Evans and Brooks, and located marijuana on them. Both were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set for Evans. Brooks’ bail is set at $2,000.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following:

—Brent Anthony Green, 18, of Freret Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:04 p.m. Monday on a warrant for a probation violation.

Green turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department for an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. He was taken to the Morgan City Jail where he remains.

—Celeste Ann Delaune, 29, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. Monday for no driver’s license, child restraint required, and careless operation.

Officers received a call about a motor vehicle accident in the Brownell Homes area. When they arrived to investigate, they learned that Delaune struck an apartment with the vehicle while operating a vehicle with no driver’s license, Crouch stated.

The vehicle contained a child which was not in required child restraint device, Crouch stated. Delaune was taken to the Morgan City Police Department and held. The vehicle’s owner was also issued a citation for allowing unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle, Crouch stated.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Keith Smith, 45, of the 700 block of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:15 a.m. Monday for disturbing the peace. Smith is being held on $284 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
