Man arrested, another sought after residents found them in their home, Morgan City police chief says

A Morgan City man was arrested after he and another man were found in a home by its residents when the men exited a bathroom.

Kevin Alexander Soler-Fugon, 24, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Thursday for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling after officers were summoned to a residence located on Keith Street regarding a residential burglary, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said.

Officers were told residents exited the bathroom of the residence after hearing a noise and observed two Hispanic male subjects standing in the kitchen area digging through a bag. The two men ran from the residence. Officers were able to locate a potential suspect in the area who was identified as Soler-Fugon who was subsequently positively identified as one of the individuals, he said. Soler-Fugon remains jailed with no bail set.

The victim’s wallet was recovered by officers; however, the money had been removed.

The second suspect was not located and his identity is being investigated.

Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Carlvin C. Chapman, 37, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Thursday for aggravated assault, disturbing the peace and simple criminal damage to property. Officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Poncio Street in Morgan City. They learned from witnesses that Chapman approached another person attempting to provoke an altercation. During the incident, police said Chapman brandished both a knife and a baseball bat, Crouch said. He also reportedly damaged a vehicle. Chapman was located a short time later at another residence. He remained jailed this morning with no bail set.

—Jeremy Scott Dunigan, 40, of Quitman, Miss., was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Thursday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation. The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of a vehicle leaving the roadway near Lake End Park in Morgan City. Officers were able to locate two people who were attempting to leave the area. The driver, Dunigan, exhibited signs of impairment. He failed a field sobriety test and refused an intoxilyzer test. He remained jailed this morning with no bail.

—Leon Louis Gros, 40, of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. today for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, speeding and improper lane usage. Officers observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on U.S. 90 and La. 182. The driver failed a field sobriety test and refused an intoxilyzer test. He remained jailed this morning with no bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Susan Hudson, 43, of the 700 block of Duval Street in Amelia, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for simple battery. A deputy located Hudson at her residence. She later was released on bail.

—Larry Viator Jr., 29, of the 400 block of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin on a warrant for theft over $500.

—Craig Barrett, 23, of Gray Eagle Road in Franklin, was arrested at 3:13 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin for theft over $500.

A detective investigating the theft of scrap metal from a business in Louisa developed Viator and Barrett as suspects. Both were booked into the parish jail with no bail set. The investigation is ongoing.

—Korrianne Parker, 24, of the 300 block of Canal Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods at a store in Bayou Vista. Store personnel informed the deputy that Parker was observed placing items in her purse. Parker was released on a summons to appear in court on Nov. 6.

—Justin Sons, 23, of the 600 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Thursday on warrants for Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for theft and contempt of court. A deputy responding to a complaint on Teche Road made contact with Sons, and a warrant check revealed the active warrants from Lafourche Parish. Sons was jailed in St. Mary Parish with bail set at $5,750.

—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 19, of the 500 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:24 p.m. Thursday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court (contempt of court). A deputy received information regarding the whereabouts of Klenert and located him on Clothilde Street in Morgan City. He remains jailed in the parish jail with bail set at $200,000.

—Jill Parker, 39, of the 800 block of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for telephone harassment. Parker turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bail is set.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Jarret Anthony Williams, 36, of the 1300 block of Second Street in Patterson, was arrested for second offense possession of marijuana at Club 360 on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson. Williams remains jailed with no bail set.
