Work Ready graduation

South Central Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus, held a commencement ceremony on Feb. 29 for graduates of the WorkReady U Program. A total of 66 high school equivalency diplomas were awarded by WorkReady U in St. Mary Parish in 2015. The program offers a means to improve life circumstances resulting from gaining the skills that lead to a job providing a sustainable wage. Registration for new students will be held Thursday at Young Memorial at 900 Youngs Road in Morgan City from 8-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. and from 8-10 a.m. in at 1013 Perret St. in Franklin. Applicants must be 18 or older, provide valid state picture identification, Social Security card, and $25 to enroll.

River to crest at 7.5 feet March 18

More high water is headed down the Atchafalaya River with a 7.5-foot crest in Morgan City projected March 18, St. Mary Levee District Executive Director Tim Matte said Thursday.
