Tornado watch

The National Weather Service has announced a tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for St. Mary, Iberia, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Martin and Assumption Parishes.

Top school employees

The St. Mary Parish School Board recognized its top employees of the month during a meeting Thursday in Centerville. Employees honored include, from left, Barbara “Bobby” Thibodeaux, a Title I paraprofessional at J.B. Maitland Elementary School, and Jennifer Loupe, a chemistry teacher at Berwick High School. $1.25M budgeted for Bayou Chene flood work

The St. Mary Levee District board introduced its proposed $3.46 million 2015 budget Thursday, which includes $1.25 million to go toward the Bayou Chene Flood Protection project.
