A Bayou Vista man was in critical condition this morning after a car turned in front of the motorcycle he was driving at the intersection of La. 182 and Tournament Boulevard, ejecting him from the motorcycle Wednesday night, Berwick Police Chief James Richard said.
At 7:38 p.m. Wednesday, police got a call reporting a crash at La. 182 and Tournament Boulevard. A 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by Stewart Wadden, 62, of Nova Scotia, traveling eastbound on La. 182, attempted to turn left onto Tournament Boulevard, hitting a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Justin Blanc, 23, of Bayou Vista, Richard said.
Blanc was ejected from the motorcycle, landing on the car and highway, Richard said.
Blanc was originally transported to Teche Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition this morning in the intensive care unit, Richard said.
Wadden, who was uninjured in the crash, was cited for improper turning at an intersection. Wadden was not suspected of any alcohol or drug impairment but was tested for impairment as part of standard procedure for serious crashes, Richard said. Wadden was found to not be impaired, Richard said.
The motorcycle sustained heavy damage and the car had moderate to heavy damage, Richard said.
