Framers meeting here

Staff report

The Deep South Chapter of the Professional Picture Framers Association is holding its spring educational event and social in Morgan City this weekend.
The chapter spans all of Louisiana and Mississippi. In addition, attendees will be coming from two chapters in Texas, Debra Price, owner of The Frame Shop and Gallery Coffee, said.
The association is the only professional trade association for the custom framing industry, she said. It serves over 2,000 frame shops, art galleries and supplier members in North America and overseas, establishing best practices for framing and providing programs, education and services for entrepreneurial success, Price said.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to show off what our area has to offer and am very pleased that I was able to coordinate the event to be held here,” Price said.
The retreat weekend begins Saturday evening with networking and trade association discussions. On Sunday, there will be an encaustic art class taught by local artist Catherine Siracusa beginning at noon, with a framing discussion to follow at 2 p.m. All of this will take place in the cabins at Lake End Parkway.
