Belle Rose woman killed after striking a tree, rolling vehicle in morning Assumption Parish crash
A 27-year-old Belle Rose woman was killed when her vehicle traveled off the road and struck a tree in Assump-tion Parish at about 7 a.m. Tuesday, Louisiana State Police report.
The investigation revealed that a 2000 Dodge Durango was traveling south on La. 308, one mile south of La. 998, in Belle Rose, police report. The Durango was being driven by Constance Pitts, 27, of Belle Rose.
The Durango failed to negotiate a slight left curve on La. 308 and traveled off the right side of the road where it struck a tree police report. The Durango began to rotate and roll over after striking the tree, and came to rest on its roof in the travel lanes of La. 308. Pitts, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and routine toxicology tests are pending, police report.
The crash remains under investigation.
