A three-vehicle crash slowed traffic just before noon Monday on U.S. 90 at Cotten Road near Patterson, according to St. Mary Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Traci Landry.
Only minor injuries were reported, with two of the three drivers being transported to Teche Regional Medical Center, State Police Troop I spokesman Stephen Hammons said.
A 2008 Toyota Tacoma — driven by Richard Buras, 65, of Houma — was attempting to cross U.S. 90 on La. 182 when he pulled out in front of a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Alishica Short, 19, of Gibson, Hammons said.
Police said Short hit the side of Buras’ vehicle. After the two vehicles struck one another, a 2005 Toyota Prius driven by David Breaux, 62, of Morgan City, struck the other two.
Buras was cited for failure to yield, and Short received a ticket for no child restraint. Both were treated and released from the hospital. Breaux refused treatment, according to hospital spokeswoman Sabrina Roy. Breaux was not cited in the accident.
