2 wounded in city shooting
Two people were wounded after being shot Sunday night in the Railroad Avenue and Eleventh Street area and are in stable condition at different hospitals, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
At 10:29 p.m. Sunday, Morgan City police were dispatched to the area of Railroad Avenue and Eleventh Street regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived to find two victims. One victim, Lawrence Blackburn, 36, of Morgan City, received a single gunshot wound to the lower chest area, Banks said. The second victim, Dwayne Clark, 36, of Morgan City, received a gunshot wound to the hand area, Banks said.
Blackburn was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition. Clark was transported to University Hospital in New Orleans where he was listed in stable condition, Banks said.
Clark was the victim of a shooting reported in the same area on March 15. Clark suffered injuries to his face during that shooting.
Witnesses told detectives that Clark was approached and shot by a person wearing black-colored clothing with a mask covering his face, Banks said.
