Local educator receives Cornetet award
Lisa Russo from Berwick has received a Lucile Cornetet Individual Award from The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation. This $500 award will enable Russo to attend the Louisiana Association for Computer Using Educators.
Dr. Elsie Gross, chair of the Educational Foundation board of trustees, stated that The Foundation awards approximately $50,000 annually to outstanding educators to enable them to attend professional activities in their respective fields.
A bequest to The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from the Lucile Cornetet estate was the basis for establishing the Lucile Cornetet Professional Development Fund in 2005. Cornetet, a long-time educator and society member in Ohio, died in 2001.
The Educational Foundation supports and encourages intercultural understanding and educational excellence.
