Bayou Vista Garden Club observes Arbor Day
In observance of Arbor Day, Bayou Vista Garden Club members gathered on Southeast Boulevard to plant an oriental saucer magnolia tree. This deciduous magnolia blooms in April and May with reddish-purple flowers. It tolerates poorly drained, heavy clay soil or dry areas, according to Bayou Vista Garden Club. In attendance were, back row from left, club members Dawn Thomason, President Donna Bucci, Arbor Day Chairman Donna Richard and Ann Breaux, Reagan Breaux and member Jo Ann Ryan. In the front is Rebecca Cronier, left, and Shannon Breaux. Member Janice Verret also attended.
