LAGCOE opens Tuesday at the Cajundome

One of the largest oil and gas industry expositions in the United States, the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition, or LAGCOE, will be held Tuesday through Thursday at the Cajundome and Convention Center in Lafayette.

The event will feature technical presentations covering domestic industry topics and international opportunities from Brazil to Israel and points in between.

Admission to the event and technical presentations is free, but much of it is limited to energy industry personnel only.

The conference is limited to energy industry personnel on Tuesday, Wednesday and part of Thursday. It will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday with the official opening of the exposition.

The official opening will be followed by technical and international presentations throughout the day Tuesday and Wednesday.

“LAGCOE exhibits and technical sessions are designed to support bold, innovative approaches in the quest for energy,” Steve Maley, operations manager for Badger Oil Corp. and LAGCOE treasurer, said in a news release. “Our volunteers work tirelessly to vet out relevant industry issues and select and invite respected experts to speak to our attendees. This year we welcome speakers from Petrobras to provide perspectives on their finds in Brazil and Noble Energy to share insight on the record breaking Leviathan gas discovery in Israel."

Additionally, the US Commercial Service Energy team has scheduled industry presenters from Mexico and Iraq.

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, a keynote address will be given by Robert Bryce, author and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, titled “The Myths of ‘Green’ Energy and the Real Fuels of the Future.” Robert Powers, president of AEP Utilities, will deliver a second keynote address on Wednesday at 1 p.m. His presentation is titled “US Energy: Link between Oil and Gas Industry and Electric Utilities, and Regulatory and Legislative Concerns Affecting Our Industries.”

Details about the technical programs and keynote speakers can be found at

Also, more than 390 companies will have exhibits at the event.

The LAGCOE exposition will open to the public from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday
