Lady Panthers win
FRANKLIN — The Berwick Lady Panthers bounced back from a district loss to Vanderbilt Tuesday with a 3-0 victory against Franklin Wednesday.
The Lady Panthers won 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 to improve to 6-15 overall and 2-3 in district play.
The squad was led by Elizabeth Hover, who recorded 10 kills, five assists, two aces and digs apiece and three blocks.
Abigail Ohlin added eight kills, three assists and six digs in the win.
Other top performers for the Lady Panthers included Abigail Askew, four kills and blocks each and an assist; Rebecca Richard, 10 assists, five aces and two digs; and Diana Grace Guarisco, a kill, five aces and six digs.
The Lady Panthers will continue district play Monday when they host E.D. White. Junior varsity is set for a 4:30 p.m. start followed by varsity play.
CCHS beats Assumption
Central Catholic defeated Assumption 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-19) in nondistrict action Wednesday in Morgan City.
In the win, the Lady Eagles recorded an impressive 18 solo blocks as well as five block assists.
Meo Knight led CCHS with a double-double with 12 kills, 11 digs, and four solo blocks, while Celine Flores added five kills, an ace, 10 digs and two solo blocks.
Other top performers for CCHS included: Brie Hill, eight kills, five solo blocks and a block assist; Gee Garrett, seven kills, an assist, five solo blocks and three block assists; Caroline Byrne, 27 assists, an ace and four digs; Amanda Barron, two assists, a dig, two solo blocks and a block assist; and Abbie Bergeron, an assist and nine digs
The Lady Eagles (15-8) will return to action today when they compete in the Country Day tournament in Metairie.
Morgan City defeats South Lafourche
Morgan City defeated South Lafourche, 3-1 (25-11, 15-25, 25-22, 25-18) in district play Tuesday at home.
Katelyn Adams led the Lady Tigers with a double-double with 18 digs and 31 assists as well as four aces and kills apiece.
Jaiveianna Jones also had a huge game for the Lady Tigers as she recorded an impressive seven aces, one block assist, one assist, two blocks, eight digs and 13 kills.
Other top Lady Tigers contributors included Kloe Liner, 19 digs, seven kills and a block assist; Savannah Loupe, 17 digs and an ace; Marilynn Bailey, a block assist, 11 digs and three kills; Brandi Ingram, four kills, five digs and an ace; May Grogan, five kills and a block assist.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Tigers won, 25-14, 25-7.
Tyler Hebert led the squad with a mindboggling 12 aces while also adding two kills and three digs.
Other top Lady Tigers making the stat sheet included Cecilyn Feliciano, five aces and digs apiece as well as two kills; Grogan, six kills, a dig and an assist; Taylor Prince, an ace, eight assists and four digs; Ingram, an ace and kill apiece and four digs; LeeAnne Price, an assist and six digs; and Alexandra Thompson, three aces.
In freshmen action, Morgan City was victorious, 11-25, 25-12, 15-13.
Thompson led the squad with three aces and a kill, while Kelsey Whittington added two kills and Sara Gaudet, three assists.
