That Just Takes the Cake set June 15

Community partners are teaming up to sponsor and host the 10th annual “That Just Takes the Cake” social to benefit the American Heart Association Friday, June 15, at The Petroleum Club, beginning at 6 p.m.

The cocktail event will feature photos of guests, silent auction, steak dinner, live cake auction, music and dancing.

Organizers are excited to have contributions from companies like Teche Regional Medical Center whose support through That Just Takes the Cake directly benefit the community by the continued funding of biomedical research and ongoing educational programs, resulting in lives saved and enhanced health and wellness.

The Frame Shop, represented by Debra Price, and other partners who support That Just Takes the Cake directly, benefit the community through the continued funding of biomedical research and ongoing educational programs, resulting in lives saved and enhanced health and wellness.

The “That Just Takes the Cake” committee would like to thank a few local partners for their support of this year’s event. The community has truly responded to the request for sponsorship and auction donations. Mea’s Medical Spa donated a beauty package; Lori Kleles of The Enchanted Cottage donated a birthday tea party for 10; Tiger Island/Shannon Hardware donated a Beretta 12-gauge camouflage shotgun; The Bird’s Nest donated a Kalencom diaper bag; and Plantation Treasures donated a beach tote by Buckhead Betties, all to benefit the American Heart Association.

“Research is critical to saving lives,” said Jackie Cortez with Nursing Care of Morgan City. “Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Louisiana, and we are making a difference through this initiative.”

AHA-funded research has led to many important discoveries like CPR, life-extending drugs and surgical procedures that save thousands of lives each year.
