Jazz quartet slated to entertain at festival Business After Hours
The John Gray Jazz Quartet will perform at the Harvest Moon Festival Business after Hours kick-off party Oct. 3 at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts from 6-8 p.m.
The John Gray Jazz Quartet is led by John Gray who is a professional trumpet player and educator from Baton Rouge who studied at Southern University in Baton Rouge. He has released two albums: “The Continuum Experience” and “Any Given Thursday.” The others that make up the quartet are as talented and accomplished. Michael Foster, also of the Michael Foster project, attended Southern University and was a member of the “Human Jukebox,” which is Southern’s marching band. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity, and he plays the upright bass and sousaphone. Ernest Jackson provides the vocals, and Dr. Charles Brooks plays the vibraphone and congas.
The John Gray Jazz Quartet performs music from a number of genres such as classic jazz, Louisiana traditional music, swing and Latin. The members perform in Louisiana and around the United States with a number of bands such as The Michael Foster Project, The Soul Jukebox and Existential Audio.
