Honor Graduates -- Central Catholic High School

Central Catholic High School’s graduating class of 37 will take part in commencement exercises at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City.
Leading the class are valedictorians Abigail Jo Bergeron and Caroline Sauce Byrne, along with salutatorian Celine Alexandra Flores.
Bergeron is the daughter of Daniel and Joanne Bergeron. She plans to attend Louisiana State University and to major in kinesiology.
She belonged to the National Honor Society, SADD, drama club, retreat team and student council during her high school career. She also attended Louisiana Girls State.
In athletics, she received numerous awards for volleyball, softball and basketball including being named to all-district teams and academic composite all-state in all three sports.
Byrne is the daughter of Gerrie and Gerald Byrne Jr. She plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in mass communications with a concentration in public relations and a minor in business.
She was a member of student council, Key Club and the retreat team.
Byrne also attended Literary Rally representing her school for three years. She was named Student of the Year and has received several civic awards including the Masonic Honesty and Integrity Award, Diocesan Leadership Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Award.
She was a cheerleader and played volleyball, basketball and softball for which she received numerous awards including being named to the all-district and academic all-state teams several times. She also was a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist.
She is a Ronald Roussel Scholarship recipient and received the Tiger Academic Excellence Resident Award.
Flores is the daughter of Albert Flores and Michelle Woodruff. She plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe to earn a bachelor’s degree in toxicology with an eye toward a doctorate degree in pharmacy.
She was a member of the drama club, SADD, yearbook staff, the multi-media club, student council, National Honor Society and Key Club. She also was a member of the retreat team, Sisters in Christ and has attended the Lenten Student Retreat and Annual Diocesan Youth Rally.
Flores attended Louisiana Girls State and attended the George Mason University Media and Journalism Conference in Washington, D.C. She represented her school at Literary Rally and was on the homecoming court as well as being prom queen this year.
She played volleyball, softball and basketball while in high school and was named to the all-district and academic all-state teams several times.
Flores received the Academic Tier I Recognition Scholarship from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and the TOPS Performance Award.
