Home, interior show Sept. 9-11

From Sep. 9-11, anyone looking for the latest trends and innovations in residential interior design can attend the 2nd Annual New Orleans Home + Interior Design Show at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

This innovative show is sponsored by the people who have drawn homeowners from throughout the region to the Louisiana Superdome each spring for the annual New Orleans Home & Garden Show: the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans.

The Home + Interior Design Show was created as a direct result of local consumers who were looking for a show that focuses on interior design elements, both for the home’s indoor and outdoor spaces. After more than 50 years of producing the home and garden show, the HBA decided to launch a second show and the result is a more upscale show that focuses heavily on interior design.

This year’s show will fill Hall J at the Morial Convention Center and will have hundreds of booths featuring vendors, services and products with the latest ideas for consumers and interior designers alike.

Special features of the New Orleans Home + Interior Design Show will be:

—On the Wall: If these walls could talk they’d wonder just what 24 different design professionals will create on each of them using new, exotic materials or treatments. The unique feature will be showcased at the center of the show floor in the show lounge.

—Spotlight on Design: Hear how design professionals use lighting to create unique effects and enhance a room. See the latest lighting products from a paper thin tape light to a light up curtain rod and learn about all the new trends in lighting and colors for 2012 and beyond.

—On the Clock Design Challenge: Bring your decorating or design problems to the panel of experts and get a free 10-minute consultation. Bring a picture or a blueprint and let industry pros help you with your project or challenge.

—Great Expectations: Designs for the new and expectant mom. Motherhood brings a whole new set of challenges when it comes to your home. See how style and motherhood blend in our newest feature area.

—The Contemporary Canine: Design with your pet in mind. As animals become more and more a part of our lives, people are taking their pets needs and working them into the design of their homes. Take a look at the creative ideas people have come up with to live in harmony with their four-legged family members.

—Shaggy Chic Designer Pet Beds: For every pet lover you know, it’s the ultimate in beds. And it’s all yours if you get the winning bid in this whimsical fundraiser: one-of-a-kind dog/cat beds created by local celebrity artists. Proceeds will benefit PAWS, the no-kill pet shelter.
