Holiday shopping promotion includes flood history exhibits
The Morgan City Main Street Program will present “Atchafalaya: Friend or Foe” Nov. 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Morgan City.
The event will focus on the history of the different floods over the history of Morgan City.
Historic displays will be placed in all participating businesses, and food samples will be available from downtown restaurants. Attendees are encouraged to visit the stores between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to view the exhibits, sample food and begin Christmas shopping.
At 7:30 p.m., in the Everett Street Gallery, Atchafalaya Basin Operations Manager Mike Lowe, for the U.S. Corps of Engineers will provide a presentation concerning how Morgan City is affected by floods and the mechanisms that are in place to control the flow of water.
Visitors are encouraged to visit all stores and have a passport (provided by the Main Street Program) stamped to be eligible for drawings at the conclusion of the event.
