Patterson rolls past Berwick

The Patterson Lumberjacks eased past the Berwick Panthers in District 9-3A action at home Friday with a 62-38 victory.
Patterson jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and led 36-16 at the half.
The Lumberjacks extended their lead to 51-25 after three quarters before Berwick edged Patterson in the scoring column in the final quarter, 13-11.
Kenneth Washington led Patterson with 12 points, while Dontrell Benjamin and Devontre Richard each scored nine; Jedrick Gunner, eight; Larry Turner and Nehemiah Augustus, five each; Bryce Beaubouef and Malik Garrett, four each; and Taylan Grogan and DJ Jones, three each.
Audwin Williams led Berwick with 21 points, while Brandon Naverro scored 13.
Both teams will continue district play Tuesday as Patterson (12-4 overall, 2-1 in district) hosts Franklin and Berwick (7-15, 0-3) will host E.D. White at 7:30 p.m. contest.
Central Catholic routs
Highland Baptist
The Central Catholic Eagles routed Highland Baptist 75-38 in District 7-1A action in Morgan City Friday.
No individual statistics were available.
The Eagles (12-8, 6-1) will return to action Tuesday when they continue District 7-1A action in Abbeville at Vermilion Catholic. Varsity boys’ action is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip. The game will be broadcast on both KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
Morgan City falls
to Assumption
Assumption overcame a first-quarter deficit and defeated Morgan City, 45-30 in District 7-4A action in Napoleonville Friday.
While Assumption trailed 9-7 after the first quarter, the Mustangs outscored the Tigers in the next three quarters, taking a 20-14 halftime lead and a 38-26 lead after three quarters.
Jaylen Jones and Buddy Humphrey led the Tigers with 10 points apiece, while Marquise Green added seven and Brady Fryou, three.
Morgan City (1-17, 0-3) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to Bourg to take on South Terrebonne in a 7:30 p.m. contest. The game is a makeup contest from last month’s originally scheduled district game that could not be played due to cold weather.
