MCHS volleyball finishes undefeated at jamboree

Morgan City, Berwick, Patterson and Central Catholic high schools all were in action Thursday at the Morgan City High School Jamboree. The Morgan City Lady Tigers’ varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams all finished undefeated at the annual Morgan City High School Volleyball jamboree Thursday.
The Lady Tigers’ varsity and junior varsity teams were 3-0, while its freshman team, which also participated in junior varsity action, finished 2-0.
Berwick finished 2-1 in both varsity and junior varsity action, while Patterson was 2-1 in varsity play and 1-2 in junior varsity games.
Central Catholic was 1-2 in both varsity and junior varsity action.
West St. Mary finished 2-1 in varsity play and 1-2 in junior varsity action, while Franklin was 0-3 in both varsity and junior varsity action and Covenant Christian, 0-2 in varsity play.
In varsity action, Morgan City’s varsity team defeated Central Catholic (25-22), Berwick (25-24) and Patterson (25-19).
Against Central Catholic, Cecily Feliciano led Morgan City with one ace, two kills and five assists, while Jaiveianna Jones had four kills and a block.
Other top contributors included Karley Guidry, one ace and five assists, while Dwanna LeBeau had two aces.
Against Berwick, Jones led Morgan City with three aces, four kills, three blocks and one assist, while Feliciano had four assists.
For Berwick, Ashton Morales had three kills, one block and three assists; Abigail Askew had four kills; Hannah Carpenter recorded two aces and six digs; and Mary Jordan Melancon had three assists and three digs.
Against Patterson, Morgan City had nine aces, five of those by Alexandra Thompson.
Kennedy Hebert had three aces, while Jones had another ace.
Thompson also added a kill, while Hebert had two kills and Jones was Morgan City’s top contributor with six kills and one block.
Berwick defeated Central Catholic (25-10) and Franklin (25-10), while Patterson topped West St. Mary (25-18) and Covenant Christian (25-10).
Against Central Catholic, Berwick had seven aces, six by Carpenter and another by Jordan Lipari.
Carpenter also had a kill and five digs, while Morales was another top contributor for the Lady Panthers with a kill, two assists and three digs.
Against Franklin, Berwick had seven aces, again six of those by Carpenter, and another by Sydney Aucoin.
Carpenter also had five digs, while Aucoin had three kills, one block and two digs.
Askew had four kills and a block, while Morales had one kill, four assists and a dig to round out Berwick’s top contributors.
Central Catholic’s varsity defeated Franklin (25-13).
West St. Mary defeated Franklin (25-22) and Covenant Christian (25-21).
In junior varsity action, Morgan City defeated Central Catholic (25-9), Berwick (25-20) and Patterson (25-9).
Against Central Catholic, Morgan City recorded six aces, led by five from Faith Crappell. Hannah Gros added the other assist.
Crappell also had two kills, while Gros had one, Paige Loftin recorded three kills and Allie Vincent had two kills and four assists.
Against Berwick, Morgan City had five aces, four of those by Crappell, and another by Vincent. Vincent also had an assist, while Loftin had two kills.
Against Patterson, Morgan City had 13 aces.
Brandi Albarado led the Lady Tigers with four aces, while Crappell and Gros had three apiece and Vincent, Katelyn Gautreaux and Twanna LeBeau each had one.
Vincent also recorded an assist, while Loftin had two kills and one block and Abby Reynaud, an assist.
Berwick defeated Central Catholic (25-16) and Franklin (25-8), and Patterson topped West St. Mary (25-9).
Central Catholic defeated Franklin (25-19).
West St. Mary topped Franklin (25-15).
Morgan City’s freshman team defeated Patterson (25-20) and West St. Mary (25-14).
