MCHS’ Chenevert earns All-State honor

Morgan City High School girls’ basketball standout Casey Chenevert recently earned honorable mention Class 4A All-State honors on the team, chosen by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Chenevert finished her junior year with an average of 21.6 points. In district action, she averaged 28 points.
Morgan City coach Anthony Garrison said he was “honored” Chenevert was recognized.
“Obviously the team’s scoring ran through her, but the thing I am proud of the most is she was able to make her teammates better this year,” Garrison said. “She became a better player and student of the game this past season. Entering her senior season I would not be surprised to see her point total drop a little. In return, our team could be more dominate. She is that type of unselfish player … Casey is a smart young lady and has a bright future if she continues to work hard.”
Cassidy Barrios of Vandebilt Catholic was a first-team selection, while Assumption’s Amanda Gianelloni and Ellender’s Amari Banks and Kiara Scott all were honorable mention selections.
