A big first quarter helped Patterson jump in front on their way to a 64-48 victory against Morgan City in non-district play Friday.
Patterson jumped out to a 13-0 first quarter lead and led 30-14 at halftime and 45-29 after three quarters.
Taylan Grogan led three Patterson players in double figures with 15 points, while Nehemiah Augustus had 13 and Malik Garrett, 12. Other top contributors included Dontrell Benjamin, eight; Daylon Charlot, six; and Jedrick Gunner and Larry Turner, four points each.
No individual statistics were available for Morgan City.
Patterson (9-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts West St. Mary in a 6:15 p.m. contest.
Morgan City (1-14) will not return to action until it begins District 7-4A play Jan. 21 when it hosts Ellender.
Central Catholic outscored Vermilion Catholic in every quarter in route to a 68-28 victory in District 7-1A hoops action in Morgan City Friday.
The Eagles led the visitors from Abbeville 16-7 after the first quarter, 35-13 at halftime and 55-18 after three quarters.
Tyler Hoffpauir led the Eagles with 23 points, while Samarick Paul had 13 and Cedric Gant, 12. Other top contributors included Stefano Guarisco, eight; Nicholas Case, four; and Matt Vorenkamp, three.
Central Catholic connected on nine three-pointers in the contest.
The Eagles (8-7 overall, 2-0 in district) will return to action Tuesday when they travel to Franklin to take on Hanson Memorial. Varsity boys’ action will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on both KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
Berwick falls to Kaplan
A big second- and third-quarter by Kaplan doomed the Berwick Panthers as they fell 53-30 on the road Friday.
While Berwick took a 14-13 lead after one quarter, Kaplan outscored the Panthers 32-9 in the next two quarters to take 45-23 lead after three quarters.
Cody Roberie and Audwin Williams each scored nine for the Panthers, while Brandon Naverro had eight.
Berwick hit five three-points in the contest — three by Roberie and two more by Williams.
The Panthers (6-10) will return to action Tuesday when they host Grand Isle in a 7:30 p.m. varsity contest.
