FSHS Hornets defeat Ellender
Brian Robertson scored six touchdowns, leading the Franklin Hornets to their fifth straight victory by a score of 50-20 over the Ellender Patriots Friday at J. C. Dry Stadium.
Franklin (5-3, 2-0) notched its fifth consecutive win with the blowout of the Ellender Patriots Friday.
Robertson, who rushed 16 times for 248 yards, scored his first of six touchdowns on a 3-yard run with 7:54 showing on the clock as FSHS took a 6-0 lead.
Ellender’s Justin Johnson scored on a 73 yard pass from quarterback Curtis Anderson helping the Patriots draw even with the Hornets at 6-6 with 7:10 showing on the clock.
Franklin scored on three consecutive drives with Jarion Brown scoring from one-yard out before Robertson adding touchdowns on 13 and 4 yards to hand the Hornets a 28-6 lead.
With the clock showing 1:07, Brown ran in from the 1-yard line before tossing a pass to Brennan Robinson on the two-point conversion as FSHS forged ahead by a 14-6 margin.
Midway through the second quarter, Robertson broke free on a 14-yard score before tacking on the two-point conversion, giving FSHS a 22-6 advantage.
Robertson delivered again on a 4-yard touchdown run with 1:57 remaining as FSHS sailed ahead by a 28-6 margin.
Richard Green brought the Patriots back with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Anderson as EHS trimmed Franklin’s lead to 28-14 at the half.
In the waning moments of the third quarter, Jaharri Cahno caught a 26-yard pass from Anderson to bring the Patriots within eight points of the Hornets at 28-20.
Robertson shut the door on the Patriots, scoring on touchdown runs of 44, 38 and six yards in the fourth quarter as the Hornets rolled to the 50-20 victory.
Robertson led the way on 30 carries for 248 yards and six touchdowns. Brandon McFarlane rushed 16 times for 92 yards.
Jarion Brown connected on 3 of 6 passes for 42 yards while Brennan Robinson, Charles Webb and Simieon Theodile all had one reception to lead the Hornets.
Franklin (5-3, 2-0) will return to District 9-3A action Friday at Donaldsonville.
