The Patterson High School basketball team had two members of its squad selected to the Class 3A All-State team.
Senior Larry Turner and sophomore Nehemiah Augustus were both named honorable mention selections.
Augustus, who already was named District 9-3A Co-MVP, averaged 12.3 points per game.
“Nehemiah had a very good sophomore season,” Patterson head coach Ryan Taylor said. “It will be expected of him to have a better season next year. For as well as he played all season long, he and I both know he can and will be better.”
Turner, a first-team All-District 9-3A selection, averaged 8.1 points, 2.1 steals and took 25 charges this season.
“Larry was our floor leader. He did everything that was asked of him. I am most proud of his charges taken stat. That proves right there that he wants to win. He sacrificed his body all season long. He only got credit for 25, but if you look at the film there probably is another 5-10 that could have easily been called a charge, not a block. I am glad he was honored for doing little things of basketball.”
Richwood’s Reginal Johnson was named Most Valuable Player, while University High’s Joe Spencer was named Coach of the Year.
Logan Gravois of E.D. White, a District 9-3A opponent of Patterson, was named all-state honorable mention, too.
